Our Pre-School Day
When the children first arrive, they are shown to their own special coat peg and hang up all of their things. The children are then shown to the name board where they move their name to show that they are at pre-school. They can then play until everyone has arrived.
The morning begins with a short registration period where the children are encouraged to sit together quietly and listen for their name. We also have a letter and a colour of the week - children are encouraged to bring in something from home and we have Show and Tell time. After this they may go and play with whatever they choose.
Pre-school facilities enable us to provide a wide range of activities for the children to enjoy.
Different toys and activities are placed out every day so the children get a varied choice.
There is a crafts table where the children can make, paint and create their own masterpieces which are displayed and then can be taken home to treasure.
The children's imaginations can run riot in our home corner - it has been a huge number of things from a picnic area to a space ship. There are always building toys for the children to play with, along with slides and rockers for them to enjoy. We have a large selection of jigsaws, books, dolls, construction toys, dressing up clothes, play dough etc for the children to play with.
We have an outside area for the children to enjoy in the summer months.
Mid-morning is snack time, and after washing hands the children find their named place mat. Then after a short prayer the children enjoy a drink (squash, milk or water), fruit and a savoury snack. A menu for snack time is displayed on a board in the foyer. Once everyone has finished their snack it is then story time. (If any parent has any concerns about this aspect of the session, please speak to a member of staff).
On birthdays we encourage parents to bring in a birthday cake (with candles) and we all sing Happy Birthday.
Towards the end of the morning's activities we encourage the children to help tidy up, especially the floor activities. This allows us to enjoy music, dancing and movement activities.
It is then time to put coats on and collect pictures, and after a short goodbye song it is time to go home.
We encourage an atmosphere of caring for one another and although disagreements do occur we can usually solve the problem and end with a cuddle.
We ask all children to bring along a small hand towel (named) in a bag and a complete change of clothes as spillages, accidents and over enthusiastic water play do occur.
Seasonal Activities
Many activities happen during the school year. The summer term brings our annual sports morning with fun races for all the children, (and mums, dads, grandmas, grandads and even the staff). We also like to have a summer outing and have visited many places.
Christmas brings the show-stopping Nativity play and Christmas Concert. We also have a christmas party where the bearded gentleman is guest of honour.
At Easter children are invited to take part in the Easter Egg Hunt and Bonnet Parade. Each term ends with a party for all the children.
When your child's time comes to start Primary School we mark this occasion with a graduation ceremony.
